The Mexican-American singer was working on her fifth studio album, an English crossover album called Dreaming of You, before her death. The Texas-born musician learned to sing in Spanish at the urging of her father, Abraham Quintanilla, according to Biography, and breaking into the English language market would be a full-circle journey for her.
